Meet Jazz (Boomtown Jazz Ma Tazz, CGC, FGDCH; OFA Good). She is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier born in 1997. Jazz lives for flyball and holds the prestigious Flyball Grand Champion title. We made Jazz retire from flyball at the age of 11 and she was not happy about it. Very recently in 2010, we learned that Jazz is totally deaf. She had adapted so readily that we had no clue until we nearly lost her into the darkness on a trip to Kentucky. We spend lots of time spoiling this girl with soft beds and lots of pets. Having survived liver failure in 2006, we think our Jazz has a special blend in her blood that just keeps her going. She truly is an Energizer Bunny and we love her dearly. Jazz's nickname of "Staffanator" has followed her through her racing career. She is known for regularly breaking the top boards on the flyball jumps; even the Sintra boards which are supposed to bend and not break. At home, Jazz loves puppies and children and will go out of her way to stop and see either of them. She also has an affinity for Jack Russells and would only allow the Jacks in the whelping room when she had pups. Jazz has her Canine Good Citizen title and points towards an AKC Championship, although she finds showing in the ring extremely dull.

R.I.P. October 1999 - January 2010 ---- You were my heart dog, PJ. May you have no more pain. I miss you.
PJ (Tempest Pagan In Pajamas, CGC, FMX; OFA Good). PJ is a female Staffordshire Bull Terrier born in 1999. She is blue brindle in color. She began her flyball career slowly, taking time out to have two litters of pups. PJ has earned a Flyball Master Excellent title and Canine Good Citizen title. We were very proud of PJ for the CGC because sitting and staying have never been her strong suits. PJ has many very terrier characteristics such as the yappy bark and high energy nature. Being very silly, mischievous, and extremely cute she has many nicknames, including "The Peej", "Peejers", and "PJ Roo". PJ is Alisa's right arm and soulmate, and can usually be found at Alisa's side. PJ is Klondike's sister and Phantom's mother.

Meet Klondike (Tempest Klondike Express, CGC, FGDCH; OFA Good, L2HGA Normal). He is a male Staffordshire Bull Terrier born in 1999. At 11 years old, Klondike sired a litter of Border Staffies (two of them have stayed on our flyball team). Klondike still shows the same enormous love for racing and still refuses to settle in his crate at a flyball tournament. He recently earned his Grand Champion flyball title and it couldn't have been earned by a more qualified K9. He still has more fans at the tournaments than Elvis had at his concerts (really!) and the owners of his Border Staffy kids are all tickled to have a Klondike pup. Because of his hard-charging flyball performances, he earned the flyball nickname "The Machine" and his handler preference is anyone female who adores the ground he walks on. Around the house our favorite nickname for him is "Klonnie Bear" because of his resemblance to a small polar bear. Klondike has points towards his AKC championship and was awarded "Best Puppy in Show" at a UKC show when only five months old. Klondike loves the springpole, frisbee and anything that requires him to go full tilt. He also likes to sleep on the bed at night with his butt on the pillows.

Meet Tempest F4 Fighting Phantom, CGC, FMCH, (OFA Fair) a/k/a Phantom. He is a PJ son born in June of 2004. Phantom was a singleton litter and has been spoiled since puppyhood. He is attached to me at the hip and is never happier than when he's perching on the back of the couch behind me. He also likes to sleep on the bed with me at night. In mid-2005 Phantom was diagnosed with Valley Fever and was able to kick the fungal virus only after several years of serious meds. He enjoys running through the desert with the quads and will bark at us when we stop. He also likes rides in the car; especially if those rides end at flyball practice. He is a big talker and will "tell us" how happy he is at the drop of a hat. He also will sneeze on command and will do both talking and sneezing non-stop if you don't give him attention. Phantom has become an important height dog for our multibreed team and always races with gusto. Phantom has sired some super fast Border Staffy pups and a purebred Staffy litter so far. While he doesn't have as many "kids" as Klondike, he's working on it. ;-)

Meet Kimber, FDCH-S (Volando Concealed Weapon at Tempest, L2HGA Normal). She is a female Staffordshire Bull Terrier born in 2009. She is Klondike's granddaughter and Jazz's great granddaughter. So far she's a very smart Monster. We love her and expect to have her in the AKC show ring and on the flyball field at some point in her future. She's quite a mouth around the house - roo rooing at everything. She's made it onto the counter with one leap - something I hope she doesn't repeat! She loves to sit in the hot tub with us and refuses to get out until we do. During the summer, she loves swimming in Garrett's pool with him; in her life vest, of course. She really, really just wants to be with her people. Kimber hit the flyball field with zest, if not perfection. She reminds of me of her great grandma Jazz in her racing style - all out, jumps be damned.
